How to Create Fall Looks from Summer Styles

As the season changes, you would think your wardrobe would need to change with it. There are some beloved staples I can’t bring myself to put in storage - and guess what?! I don’t have to. Living in LA, the weather is very slow to change, creating a long transition period between summer and autumn. This has given me enough time to become a pro at creating fall looks with summer styles, and today, I’m telling you to leave your summer staples hanging in your closet a little longer.

1. Layer Up

Tried and true, layering up for the colder weather is a must. While you can always throw some seriously cute (and cozy!) outerwear on top of your look, there’s always room to change it up. I love to throw on a summery dress with a button-down blouse or turtleneck underneath. It instantly dresses up a look while still giving me the style and warmth needed.

2. Bootleg

I have always been a fan of boots. Cowboy, go-go, combat. You name it - I own it. The transition period between the summer’s sun and the fall’s breeze doesn’t have to be tricky for your closet. Try pairing a classic warm-weather look with some boots to autumn-ize it (in an instant!) Plus, who doesn’t love footwear that adds instant interest and complete comfortability?!

3. Beach Day

You don’t have to say goodbye to your favorite one-piece swimmie yet! Turning a swimsuit into a bodysuit has been on-trend for a while, and now is the perfect time to try it out! Style it with a midi skirt or trousers and throw on a blazer for a polished, chic look that’s reminiscent of beach days!
