How to Recreate ‘90s Hairstyles

This post is sponsored by Waterl<ss. All of my opinions are my own.

What comes around, goes around. It’s a famous saying that’s often used to describe karma, but it also is the perfect phrase for fashion. We’ve seen the resurgent of retro fits, bell bottoms, and now the ‘90s trends. Crimping, butterfly clips, scrunchies - I’m here for it all, and today, I’m going to show you exactly how I modernize ‘90s hairstyles.

1. Start with a fresh base.

Every hairdo deserves a clean slate. If you’re on-the-go and don’t have time to hop in the shower, the Waterl<ss Dry Shampoo No Residue and Dry Conditioner Instant Moisture combo will be your new best friend. Simply spray the dry shampoo onto your roots, let it sit for a minute, and massage to rub in. It will instantly clean, refresh, and lift your roots. For added moisture, spray the dry conditioner from mid-length, let it dry before brushing through your hair. Plus, it helps control unruly frizz! These products are perfect for fine, oily hair.

2. Crimp it up.

Hate them or love them - crimped curls are a product of the ‘90s. To modernize the hairstyle, I usually take a wide three-barrel curling wand that’s the perfect combination of a crimp and beach waves. Don’t forget to protect your locks with a heat protectant spray like the Waterl<ss’s Heat Shield Protect and Re-Style.

3. Add some color.

My favorite part - accessorizing! I remember this time was full of neon butterfly clips, patterned scrunchies, and downright cool hair accents (does anyone remember hair jewels?!) I absolutely love that all of these are coming back into style because adding some hair accessories is an easy way to create interest in your everyday look.
