The Postpartum Essentials I’m Loving

IMG_5503.jpg

A lot of mothers talk about the fun stuff that happens postpartum, like the cute clothes, the nursery and special moments with baby - and you know I’m gonna tell all of that. I also want to be your go-to for all the not-so-fun stuff that comes with the “fourth” trimester. I’m talking everything from cooling spray for down there to post-natal vitamins I swear by. I got you covered!! Here are the 13 essentials every new mama needs to take on postpartum. I’ve also went ahead a linked everything at the bottom of the blog for you - refer back to this whenever. Think of it as your postpartum guide!

1. Cora Organic Panty Liners

Best clean liners - hands down. They are fitted to work with normal underwear and are super breathable and comfy. The best part: it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a diaper!

2. Frida Mom Perineal Witch Hazel Cooling Liners

Forget ice packs and most pain relief sprays. These are a one-step solution for perineal pain relief. Putting one on gave me the most dramatic relief and felt like a dream!

3. Frida Mom Peri Washer

This has an upside down nozzle helps you rinse (since you can’t wipe).  Exposure to repeated water rinses not only keeps you feeling clean, but also helps you heal faster.

4. Earth Mama Herbal Spray

This spray is what saved me when I could only find time to shower once a week. It is a very gentle natural spray that gave me the feeling of “fresh” even though I couldn’t shower. It’s a light cucumber mist that removes odor!

5. Frida Mom Sitz Tablets

The easiest way to get a sitz is a little dissolving tablet! Some Sitz baths you have to brew (mixing dried herbs that you steep like tea and salts), I like the Frida tablets because you don’t have to steep or measure them, just drop one tablet in the sitz bath and let it dissolve!

6. Sitz Bath

This goes without saying, but if you’re getting the Frida Mom Sitz Tablets, you better get yourself a sitz bath!! These promote fast perineal healing!

7. Lamaze Nursing Bras

Originally I bought a ton of bras with the detachable latches on each side, but I found the latches to be super annoying to have to clip and unclip with one hand. I decided to order a few Lamaze bras to try and ended up loving them. They are super comfy, and easy to stretch to get boob access!

If you are looking for a hands-free nursing bra, I recommend Hatch Hands Free Bra!

8. Dr Browns Breast Pads

While I am lucky enough to be able to nurse right now, I have definitely ruined some bras and shirts due to leaks. I tried cloth breast pads like Bamboobies, but they didn’t hold up with my excessive leaking. Now, I like using actual pads. I keep them in my bra at all times so when I’m done nursing I don’t immediately get my bra and shirt wet.

9. Miracle Milkookies

If you are having a hard time producing milk, or just want to add some milk-boosting ingredients into your diet, you have to try Miracle Milkookies. They are so yummy!! They have an oatmeal chocolate chip flavor and a Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Soy Free and Vegan option!

10. Boobease Nipple Butter

This is hands down my favorite nipple butter. It feels and smells amazing and is very soft, so it’s easier to remove from it’s jar.

11. Hatch Belly Oil

Most mamas moisturize the tummy during pregnancy, but you also must continue to moisturize after baby comes!!! Love the feel and smell of this Hatch version (it smells like grapefruit!!!)

12. Mindful Mama Meditation App

This app is an incredible resource designed for moms (at any stage) to help ease anxiety, promote sleep and reduce stress. I use it for daily mindfulness - because if I’m in my best headspace, I will be a better wife, mother and business owner!

*Splurge item- Theragun

My neck, shoulders and back have been through a lot. So if there’s one thing that’s provided me the most relief it’s our Theragun. My husband uses it to deep tissue massage my shoulders every night and it’s heaven. I hold allllll of my stress and tension under my shoulder blades and holding/nursing a baby all day long has mad it ten times worse. So this item is WORTH EVERY PENNY, Even though it’s $$$!
